From After School Twirling to Competition Twirling - Have you LOST YOUR MIND??

Did you seriously just trade your once a week, after school, no transportation arrangments needed except for after practice life for the, private lesson, evening practice, hotel staying, out of town competition life??

OF COURSE YOU DID!!

And why? Why did you do it? Because you're an awesome parent who saw a talent in your twirler and decided to give them an amazing opportunity, that's why! Because your twirler showed an interest in a sport that doesn't get a ton of recognition therefore you think this will be a breeze compared to football, soccer, basketball and cheer.

Well I can tell you this, it's most definitely not a "Breeze" but if it's your first year, don't panic. It doesn't have to break the bank and consume ALL of your free time. I will tell you the more years you have a twirler on a competition team the more time consuming and costly it will become. Not because the costs have changed, not because the older they get the more expensive things are (though that seems to be the case) but because if you haven't given up after a couple of years it's likely that your twirler is one of the ones who is taking this whole "Twirling Thing" seriously. Now it's an investment, not only in your twirler life currently but also in your twirlers future. Twirling can bring in some decent college scholarships, that's pretty awesome!

If this is your first year on our competition team then WELCOME! You'll never feel alone in the maddness with other Twirl Moms like us around to support you. The traveling can become exhausting at times, the financial commitments seem overwhelming too but it's going to be ok. We can help eachother out with carpooling and sharing hotel rooms...we make it work. I'd like to also tell you that if it's your first year you're probably going to feel a little lost. You might even worry that all us veteran Twirl Moms will think every question you have is one too many...but guess what? We don't. We were newby Twirl Moms at one point or another and we asked just as many questions if not more. The only reason we've earned our "Been there, Done that" T-Shirts is because well...we had to be there and do that just like you are now! So don't be afraid to ask away! We are here to help. I'd be happy to hear from you. I made this site to help the new moms with details that they should know for the upcoming year and also a place where the veteran Moms can comment about their experiences and voice their ideas as well!
